We went to Montezuma's castle first. This is a National Monument site of Indian Cliff Dwellings. The Sinagua Indians built these dwellings around 1250 AD. They are awe inspiring to look at!
Looking at the cliff dwellings from a distance. The Indians had a series of steps and ladders they used to get up to their dwellings. These Indians were mostly farmers and planted in the valley below beside Oak Creek
Doug and I below the cliff dwellings
I just love the looks of these Sycamore trees. Too early in the season for the leaves to be budding though
The cliff dwellings seen through the Sycamore tree branches
After spending time at the cliff dwellings we then drove 30 minutes further north to Sedona. Sedona is well know for their red Rocks!
I could take a million pictures of Sedona it is so beautiful!
Everywhere you look there are red rock out croppings
You have a 360 degree view of red rock bluffs and crags
This bluff called the three sisters
I am only including about 1/3 of my pictures so you can get an idea of what there is to see
Hopefully you aren't getting tired of all the red rocks!
We are up on a bluff over looking part of Sedona and Cathedral Rock is in the distance
We are just going to walk up to the Holy Cross Church that is built right into the rocks. This is the walkway up to the church
Doug and I are up in the courtyard of the church overlooking the red rocks
Norm & Diana in the same spot
Standing at the side of the church courtyard overlooking a mansion down below
Church of the Holy Cross from below, a magnificent site
We are at Red Rock Crossing State Park and this is a Cottonwood Tree
We are walking down to the river and these are the red rocks usually covered in water when the river is high. Cathedral Rock in the back ground
