Our Apache Trail Trip with Norm & Diana

This was Norm & Diana's first trip to Arizona so we decided to take them on the Apache Trail drive. Another lovely warm day and a very scenic trip. We also decided to take the Dolly Steam boat trip around Canyon lake this time as we also had never done this. What a great day to be out on the water!

 Doug, Sharon, Diana & Norm
We are at the lookout above Canyon lake

Doug & Norm sitting on the steam boat waiting for our trip to start

Dian and I are also waiting for the trip to start!

We were lucky to get such good seats right at the front of the boat with such a great view, it was also nice to get the breeze as it was a warm day

The view as we toured the shore line. The boat trip was a hour and a half long

The sandstone cliffs with the green lichen on them - very colourful

We were amazed at how the cacti seemed to grow right out of the rock

Just loved this saguaro growing right up the side of the cliff

Notice the "walk the plank" exit at the front of the boat. We threatened the guys if they didn't behave we would have them walk the plank!

Nothing like popcorn and a good boat ride on a sunny, warm day

Note the eagle sitting up on the cliff

There we a lot of people out enjoying the warm weather on their seadoos and boats

There were many arms and coves of the lake that were so beautiful to traverse

Beautiful sandstone cliffs come right down to the water's edge

 Fishermen out enjoying the water

Always some interesting rock formation to look at

We had fun deciding what all the rocks looked like

One of the many boats out on the lake

Another eagle up on the top of the rock

We were amazed at the size of the boats on the lake - many bigger than most have on the ocean!

The views were breath taking around every point we went around

I will let you use your imagination as to what these rocks look like!

We thought these cliffs looked Walt Disney monsterish

We are coming back around to where we started our trip

We packed a lunch to eat on route so after we got off the boat, we continued down the Apache trail and had a hard time finding shade so we had to use the truck as our shade! This was the guys idea of taking us out for lunch!

We saw so many pretty little wild flowers just starting to bloom

This is a wild Fairy Duster bush. I have a domesticated bush in my yard with a more red coloured flower

We stopped to walk out to the view point and Norm had to take a little side trek to look over the cliff in another spot

We are standing at the overlook to the Roosevelt bridge and Roosevelt Lake. You have seen us in the picture twice already this winter - just with different people!

Fancy big boat out on Roosevelt Lake

We ended our day stopping in Globe at the Pickle Barrel Shop. It is a very eclectic shop that has everything but the kitchen sink. Everywhere outside they have metal work of every design and shape. Diana was in seventh heaven

Everything is colourful to say the least

Dian just loved this metal bird house but couldn't convince Norm to buy it for her!

Scorpion made out of horseshoes
It was a great day, we did and saw so many things!
