The Grand children go ATVing again

We decided to take the kids out in the desert again. Cole decided he didn't want to go (we were disappointed) but you don't argue with a teenager so we left him at home and the rest of us took off for an afternoon in the desert. Our friend Trent lead us on a drive over to the Peralta trail head and for a hike through the Don's club camp ground and then back through the desert, stopping to explore two different old silver mines.

Our friend Harvey was back from his Christmas with his son so we were one ATV less today so Christopher and Doug were able to buy another used car seat and mount it next to Luke so Hannah could also ride beside him. Chris and Laila rode with the kids, Doug and I in our friend's ATV and Trent was by himself as Cole didn't come with us.

We are just heading out into the desert

We followed the kids, and the little ones thoroughly enjoyed their seats as they were sitting and high and had a great view!

 They loved posing for pictures!

Of course Luke has to be different! Giggling the whole time!
No helping him get back into his car seat after we walked around a bit! "I can do it myself" was his mantra and yes he certainly could!

Walking up to an old mine entrance. No we did not let Luke go in although he certainly wanted to!!

Loved this picture of Luke and Grandpa walking ahead of us into the Don's Club private camping area.

Grandpa, Hannah and Luke walking the high road

Doug at the top, Luke and Hannah walking down the steps of the very old amphitheater

The views of the mountains are spectacular here

Hannah looking out the window of a very old adobe house on the property

Hannah and Luke climbing in the old outside ovens. They thought they were dog houses!

The mistletoe is bright red at this time of year and add a bit of colour to the desert

Heading home up the rocky road

We stopped to explore the old Native American grinding holes. The woman of the tribe ground their corn, wheat and nuts on the rocks creating perfectly deep circular holes

Of course the kids have to climb the rocks and at least at this time of year we don't have to worry about rattle snakes!

Luke, Hannah and Laila exploring the grinding holes, Grandma is booting down the rocks to level ground!

We are back on level ground ready to move on

It was a sunny cool day and the kids were a bit cold so Grandpa's jacket came in handy to cover their legs

They had a great time pointing things out to each other. It worked really well having them side by side

After all the fresh air, when we got home, they were happy to lie on Mom & Dad's bed and watch some TV. We had a wonderful afternoon out on the desert and Hannah collected more rocks for her collection. I am thinking her suitcase is going to be heavy for the trip home!!
