Pouring Cement!

Now that Doug had some young and energetic helpers, he decided to proceed with a project I have been harping about for awhile. Doug bought me a swing for out on the patio at a garage sale back in early December but I wanted to be able to put it behind the house where it is warmer and there is both privacy and sun but the patio cement did not extend far enough. We talked of just putting patio blocks down but Doug decided it would be far easier to pour cement.

As you can see, the temperatures have improved and are more seasonal normals! Laila is in shorts and we are supervising the fellows as they pour and level the cement. We had a good laugh when we went out to check this portion of cement after dinner to see how it was doing and found quail footprints all through the cement

Hannah finally got to wear her sun dress she brought with her and she was such a big help to her Dad and Grandpa by adding the water to the cement when they needed it. A few showers for Dad and Grandpa when she wasn't paying attention to where her hose was pointing! Of course Laila and I laughed! Good thing it was a warm day

The fellows worked hard out in the sun to get it done before it got too warm

They did a great job of leveling and finishing off the edges - looks like a professional job! When Mom is happy, everyone is happy!

It is Luke's turn to handle the hose and Laila needs to stay close by in case he needs some help. He only lasted for a bit and then got bored and Hannah took over again.

Christopher finsihing off the edging of the second portion of cement. You can see Cole in the background. He was a big help carrying the heavy bags of cement from the truck to the back yard and then helping his Dad mix the cement.

Luke's turn, he didn't need any help!

Now I just have to be patient for a few weeks to let it thoroughly dry before I move my swing onto the new extention.
