Christmas morning with Catherine. We got up at a civilized hour - the pleasure of having a "grown" daughter visiting
Catherine thought she was funny when she gave me a computer mouse pad she had as an extra. It was a picture of her and her "ex" friend Cole.
Catherine did well receiving hot sauce for a Christmas present. She particularly likes Dick's Dirtwater Hot Sauce
She wanted some new knitted dish clothes so I wrapped them up for her and used up all my left over bits of cotton yarn
Catherine's first attempt at a selfie Christmas dinner and she managed to miss herself!
She got herself in this picture
We were pleasantly surprised to see how many of the displays had changed from two years ago, so it was neat to walk through not knowing what to expect
The large trees were so beautifully covered with lights. Hard to imagine how many lights each tree had on them and how long it took to get them all on the trees!
This tree was particularly pretty with the moon in the background. It was a beautiful evening, not too cool as we thought it might be
Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport is right next to the zoo so Doug had to take a picture with a plane coming in for landing in the background
They always have a display in the pond in the centre of the park that moves to the music - very pretty
Loved the penguins
These lights were all new to us this year
Doug thought this was a good place to take a picture of his two monkeys infront of the gorilla!
This is an old standby but I loved watching the monkeys move along the wire
All the rabbits reminded me of my backyard!
The trees decorated in white with red "ornaments" is new this year. They looked spectacular from a distance
Doug was forever taking our picture and never letting me take one of him
The talking giraffe was hit with everyone as usual.
I just had to take another picture of more of the trees - they were so pretty
This was new this year: decorating the saguaro cacti. I wouldn't have wanted that job!
These were also new - the spider web hanging from the trees. It used to be on top of one of the buildings. The new web had a much more dramatic effect
The spider was also right on the ground and looked so real
Loved the tree with the honey comb and bees and Winnie the Poo trying to get the honey. This was also a new addition to the display
A video of the honey comb and bees
A centipede
Tried to get Catherine to go on a camel ride but she reused!
Coming back around the other side of the pond, It was so beautiful
The one picture I got of Doug and Catherine and it's blurry!! Must be the monkeys behind
Now we get a blue tree with the moon behind it
The river that runs through the entrance to the park has these floating bugs this year. They looked so cool as they changed colours
Another colour change
Another colour change with reflections on the water
We had a wonderful evening exploring the lights. Well worth the entrance fee!

Boxing Day morning was cold - the water had frozen in the bird bath!
We took Catherine to the Phoenix Zoo to the Zoo Lights. We went two Christmas' ago when Christopher and family were here and thoroughly enjoyed them so thought it would be a good evening outing for us
