I didn't take this picture but another friend did when he was out in the desert on a ride. We didn't even know there were turtles out in the desert!! Amazing eh?
This is the curved bill thatcher sitting on her nest in the centre of an Organ Pipe cactus in my firned Beth's back yard
These are her three eggs, aren't they a beautiful colour? Almost look like robin's eggs
This was just minutes after the first egg hatched, the poor little chick doesn't look like much!
This is 2 days later when 2 chicks have hatched and are sitting with their mouths wide open waiting for Mom to return and feed them! The thrid egg has never hatched
We took our friends Beth and Bill for an ATV ride and to show them the horned owl and her next. One chick has hatched and is so darn cute. You have to look very carefully at the little white fluff ball to her left side. It looks like a cotton ball with little black eyes
Bill, Doug and I out in the desert
These are three new clocks I have ready for Doug to put the clock parts in. The first to the left in Mookite from Auatralia, the one that looks like a mountain peak is Picture rock, the black stone is Arizona Black Jade and the last rock is a stone the fellows got when they took their mining trip to Mammoth mountain, not sure what the rock is but really spectacular looking when you can see it close up. I think I am keeping this one but not sure what I'm going to do with all these clocks!!
This is a Bonker Hedgehog flowering out in the desert. The cacti are at least 2 weeks behind in their flowering this year because of the cool winter
Little Blue Dicks
This was the funniest site! I had to stop and take a picture. I have never seen a prickly pear cactus growing out of an opening in a saguaro cactus!! This is about 15 feet up the trunk of the saguaro. I can't wait till the prickly pear is big enough to flower. Now that will be a sight to see!
