Kathleen and I outside the old mine opening at Tortilla Flats
You can see the small water falls into the rock basin just north of Tortilla Flats. We have never seen this much water when we have done this drive. The sudden warm up must be melting the snow at the higher levels
Another spot at Fish creek canyon with lots of water. It was really neat to see this
Looking down from the fish creek bridge
Doug had parked the truck on one side of the bridge so we could walk over the bridge and get pictures
Looking down at the big Sycamore tree, no leaves on it yet
You can see Brad up on the rocks above the canyon
We stopped at Apache Lake to have our lunch picnic. It was lovely and warm and the guys had to sit in the shade and protect their lily white skin - ha ha
I was standing behind them and this is looking out over the lake. A lovely spot for a picnic!
More running water down a wash - very unusual to see
We finally get to the Roosevelt dam overlook. Always amazing to see.
We are now above the lake looking out over Roosevelt lake and the bridge
Doug, Sharon, Brad and Kath at the Roosevelt Lake overlook
We then mosied off to the Tonto National Monument park. It was too late in the day to hike up to the cliff ruins and also too hot! We'll do it their next trip. We went up to the look-out to view the ruins though
I had to take a picture of the crested saguaro as these are very rare indeed
I couldn't get a picture of the cliff dwellings as the sun was setting and shining right at us so unable to point the camera into the sun and get anything that resembled a picture. Instead, I took a picture of the adjoining cliffs with their many tunnels
This looking out over the Salt River flats with the Roosevelt Lake in the background. We had a great day sight seeing and ended it with a Mexicn dinner in Superior that at least Kath & I enjoyed - not sure Brad did and of course Doug ate North American food - no trying something different for that man!
