Dixon's are getting ready to head south for 2011/2012!

Hi everyone, one more sleep and we will be on the road to Victoria! We hope to leave tomorrow in the early afternoon. We are going to visit Brian and his girlfriend Sarah and take them out to dinner. We will be on the Black Ball ferry out of Victoria Harbor to Port Angeles Sunday morning at 1030 hrs. Hurrah!!! We will finally be heading to warm dry weather.
This will be our first trip driving down in a vehicle and not in the motor home so we aren't sure how long it will take. We are hoping to arrive in Apache Junction AZ by Wednesday supper time.
I always forget how much work it is to close the house up for the winter! Probably a good thing. We are in the home stretch though and amazingly enough we can fit everything into the truck! With just buying our place in Apache Junction 2 weeks before we came home, I have a million things I want to bring down for that house and Doug was imposing limits on me:) At least we got most of my Christmas decorations in - now that's important stuff!!
We are down to eating soup for our last dinner here as I have the fridge and freezer empty. I think I did pretty good  gauging how much food we needed to last till November 05. I think Doug thought he might just go hungry. Well that's it for now......I'll post again once we arrive in Arizona and we are able to get our internet hooked up.
Have a great winter everyone - we'll be thinking of you as we roast in the sun and you freeze in the cold. You are always welcome to come for a visit but you need to phone and make a reservation as dates are filling up ha ha.
I got so bored this fall with not having any work and the weather being too cold for me to go fishing with Doug, that I taught myself to knit socks! My Mother would be proud, I have made Catherine a pair, Doug 4 pairs, his brother Norm a pair and the neighbor Terry a pair!

Doug's brother Norm cleaning his Chum salmon after the first day of the derby Oct. 22/23. He caught 6 and Doug didn't catch any chum so Doug got to declare 2 of Norm's fish as the personal daily limit is 4!

Doug being a good guy and helping Norm clean his salmon. Doug caught a very nice sized pink salmon but that doesn't count when it is a Chum derby! We smoked half the catch for Norm and Dianna to take home with them

Doug was grumping that if Norm was going to catch all the salmon - he could clean them!

This past Monday, the boat was out of the water, cleaned and ready for storage. The neighbor Terry and Doug getting ready to haul it into town for the winter to covered, heated storage. Terry was a good guy and agreed to haul it in for Doug as our other truck had run out of insurance and just had storage insurance on it and our new truck was being loaded for heading south.

 There goes the boat....

Thursday afternoon, Doug was loading bins into the back of the new truck. He is so good at loading, it always amazes me what he can get in. I would have been cursing and throwing things around because I couldn't get it all in. I have learned to stay clear and just let him do all the loading - good deal eh?

Friday morning, Doug is up on the roof putting a cover over the chimney to keep unwelcome visitors out. Means no fire today and we have to use the furnace. I miss the fire already - a much nicer heat than the furnace.

Our last look at the Brown's Bay before we leave.
